We
all start out with family ;
a
father and a mother. What an incredible way
to enter this incredible journey we call life.
Family is the first place we gain our core values
that influence our
lives.
We begin our lives with family around us, and when we
leave this earth,
most of us yearn to depart with family members by our
side.
Is Family a "thing", or is it a "state of
mind"….an emotion?
Perhaps
it is all
three.
Airborne Girl Productions believes in the wholesome values
of the family. It
is the unit that is the most powerful and influential in
the American way of life. The family serves as a shelter and safe
house
for us in turbulent times. It is the source of our entertainment and relaxation for
the majority of
our lives.
Education in an informal as well as a formal setting that continues
to
be a constant thread of life to knit and form the tapestry of
family traditions
and values.
Some
believe that "blood is thicker than water". That
may be true in some
cases,
however, throughout my life,
I have seen some of the strongest
family
ties formed in unconventional fashion.
Allow me to use the Special Operations family as
an example.
Families and
friends that make up this ironclad
community have one of the most
incredible
examples of family that I have ever experienced. Other
than my
paternal
family, the special operations community is my family.
Special operations warriors have
demands that are unlike
any conventional
force
with a traditional
lifestyle. Their training and the
entire scope of their
profession
is one that is closely guarded. On any given day,
a special operations
unit
may
be called into harms way.
Their duty will
require that
they
not tell their
families
where a
mission may take them, or when they
will
return
from it.
That kind of family lifestyle requires
absolute trust and confidence. Trust
is
the glue that holds the family together while the Special Ops
dad is off
on
business. His family trusts the men who surround him on
his team. This
team
is as committed to one another as the traditional family is.
Trust in
the
team mate means life and death for these men.
Confidence is the magnet that draws us to a place where we can
have
peace. Families
of special ops men have confidence in the system that
these
men take
an
oath to. Since these elite units are all voluntary, the
confidence level
is
only magnified due to the fact they every man on a team is there
because
he
wants to be there.
The ultimate blessing for a special operations man is that he
has a family
that
understands his work and his personal call to that line of work.
He can
survive
as a loner no doubt, but to have a loving, understanding family
to
come
home to is the ultimate treasure.
The friendships made in these teams branch out into the
families, making each
operator
a family member. Unless you have been there, it is a
family bond
that
is rather hard to explain.
Is blood thicker than water. I don't know. But, I do
know that the special
operations family is thick enough to protect their own, and they
circle
together
to form a safe outer perimeter that provides family love,
inspiration,
and solitude.
