As a songwriter, I try to not have a shortage of lyrics and words in my creative rucksack.  Writing lyrics is easier to write for me based totally on the practical side of life.  I can write words on an airplane, sitting at an airport, sitting in the car, or while relaxing at a park bench.  All I need is a piece of paper and a full ink pen.  Obviously, it is more difficult to carry around a guitar or a piano to write the music. 

Poems allow me more time and space to truly communicate a story.  I began putting music behind my poems several years ago to add emotion and passion to the words.  Now they are a integral part of my creative writings.
